The Asbestos
Home Identificatiion Pak will help you identify
if you have asbestos containing products in your
home. It is designed to allow you to assess if
further action is required to make safe, maintain
or replace products.
This pak is presented online in two parts.
Course Notes - Part A
This is a printable PDF and includes:
- a blank copy of the Home Asbestos Identification
findings summary;
- a model example to follow - complete with
instructions; and
- a handy asbestos products recognition chart
This is provided as a PDF file in a printer
ready format.
Start Course - Part B:
This link takes you to a viewable 3D "walk-through"
and voice over description of products and locations
of asbestos products in a typical model home to
assist you in performing a visual inspection.
The walkthrough takes about 25 minutes and covers
an external walk- around, an internal walk-through,
and tips on underfloor and ceiling space inspection.
You will be able to observe over 40 examples of
asbestos containing products that were used in
construction of homes prior to 1987.
As a general rule, if you think the material is
asbestos - treat it as if it is asbestos until
proven through laboratory testing.
If you do identify possible asbestos containig
products, you should takea sample and have it
tested. You should use a safe sampling process.
